The story of three young girls trying to stick together when they get stranded in a sea cave filled with crashing waves, hundreds of sea lions, and monstrous elephant seals. Featured at the 9th Annual San Diego Film Awards (2023). As an adult, I kept having to remind myself that this was a fantasy. Filmed in La Jolla Shores, La Jolla Cove and Sea Caves, and Anacapa Island. What occasionally made me nervous were things like an East Coast blue crab on a beach in La Jolla Shores or three girls being swept 100 miles to Anacapa Island. The parents in La Jolla Shores ignore a surfboard with three little girls being swept out to sea. But then I would remember that this was a family fantasy production, and then the scale of the endeavor hit me. The book, the story, the movie, all produced and acted by one family, and I would be amazed again.
